RBG’s Taylor Jones Helps Raise $75,000 for Boys and Girls Clubs of San Dieguito

It was with big smiles and full hearts that representatives from the Boys and Girls Clubs (BGC) of San Dieguito showed up at RBG’s San Diego office to surprise Financial Consultant Taylor Jones with a thank you gift, plaque and celebration. The occasion? A hefty $75,000 raised for the non-profit by Taylor, RBG and others.

For the past two years, Taylor chaired the 27-member Junior Board for Young Professionals at BGC of San Dieguito, which was responsible for raising the $75,000. We at RBG supported his efforts by making donations and helping to market their fundraising events to drive attendance at various fundraisers Taylor helped organize.

The money goes toward aid for kids that want to participate in the clubs’ various youth programs, but might not be able to afford to do so without financial help. BGC of San Dieguito has seven locations that offer a diverse range of programs, from after-school and summer camp programs, to aquatics, athletics, middle school sports, a Montessori school and a Youth Arts Academy, and the Center for a Healthy Lifestyle. These programs come with costs, and the organization understands that sometimes the kids and their families need a little help. Each year the BGC of San Dieguito gives $350,000 in financial aid across 13 programs.

“No child is turned away if they can’t afford the program costs,” Taylor explained.

If a child wants to participate in a program, whatever that program may be, BGC does its very best to provide financial aid so kids can further develop their education, health, self esteem and character.

“Kids are ultimately our future,” said Taylor. “It is so important to support them – more educated and confident youth leads to less social problems.”

Taylor has had a long-time personal connection with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. His father, Larry Jones, was the founding board of directors president of the Ramona branch. Growing up, he was a childhood member of the BGC. When he came of employment age, he worked as a club counselor, versed in athletics, outdoor activities, and later on in technology, teaching kids how to use computers. Fast-forward 10 years, post-college, Taylor wanted to get involved again in a different capacity. He and the Junior Board have a couple signature events planned, with a Horseshoe/Cornhole Tournament fundraiser coming up at the end of August (sign up here!) and Uncorked For a Cause in the spring of 2017.

Taylor is just one example of the emphasis RBG places on giving back to the communities in which we work. We’re glad to have him as part of our team. Learn more about the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito and how you can get involved by contacting Taylor at 858-200-4855 or tjones@rbgnrp.com.
